The first, I want to talk about my understanding of the Mario game. In the 80’s, I first touch of the game is ‘Super Mario bros’ which is Nintendo’s first FC game of the representative works. I remembered that graphic is very simply. Every kind of object just used simply boxes to create. ‘Super Mario’ is the most classic action game. The player only needs to jump, run and eat gold to complete each part. It is very easily to control it. At that time, I only know Mario and his sound ‘Mamma Mia’. I remembered I have the FC game console at that time. Every time I open it that would be said “小霸王其乐无穷啊”. With the development of the game, in the Mario game I know there have other roles, like princess, his brother, little mushroom prince and some other bad guys.

In fact, I do not know a lot of Mario’s thing. I have only played the first one ‘Super Mario’. About the other Mario games, because this Media course I saw some games’ video, I found Mario was not only played in the FC and ENS, but also can be played in the arcade. And I know some game’s history.
‘Super Mario 64’ background


Super Mario N64 is a 3d platform game. This is my first time to play ‘Super Mario 64’. I think this game is very old. Because I did not see this 3d game before, I first play the 3d Super Mario Bros in NDS. I bought NDS that is Super Mario’s limited Edition. I know this game in media course. I did not play more game before. Played this game, I know the Super Mario 64 is simply 3d modeling game. That is different to 3d Super Mario Bros. And this is the one of the first third person platform game. It was released in Japan on June 23, 1996 and later in North America, Europe and Australia. ‘Super Mario 64’ is very popular action game from 1996 to 2002.

My feeling about this game


About advantages

I started to play this game. The princess sent a letter inviting for Mario that said she hope Mario can come to her castle for a cake. Now Mario jumped out pipeline.

1. I found I can adjust different angles like zoom in and zoom out. A little person took the camera to follow the Mario. The camera can move along with Mario. I chose the third person view that can cleanly to see around the 3d scene.

2. ‘Super Mario 64’ had a lot of new function that is better than before Mario Plane Game.

I found in the Super Mario 64 the Mario can use a lot of action that include Single jump, double jump, slide, kick boxing and swim(when I lost, I try to swim in the back garden).


3. ‘Super Mario 64’ include different game’s mode.

Kill the bomb king, running games, swimming with the shark and etc. I did not play all this game.

4. Game screen is made so sophisticated than before.

In the castle, player needs to collect many stars to open different door. Everyone star can help Mario to go to next part. Player can enter the room, jumped into the wall painting to start the game like find star. The environment would be changed with the different rooms. Such as volcanoes, hills, iceberg and etc. (have some scene I did not see it).

5. Mario can eat the red coins to help himself to increase blood. If you die in the game, you can restart the game. In the ‘Super Mario 64’, player will never game over.

6. ‘Super Mario 64’ is detached from the 2d action game, and created a new 3d game’s development and marketing.


About disadvantages


1. In the ‘Super Mario 64’, I think there is not a good map to illustrate more clearly how you want to go. For example, I started the game. I jumped into the picture on the wall it appeared to a conversation that will tell you what you do, but then nothing else. Sometime I pushed so quickly the window will be disappear I do not know how to walk to find the stars. This game has not a map to explain. And other bad point, if I accidentally fall into the bridge, I do not know which way to return to the original place. The first time to play this game. I always lose myself. HA… finally, I ‘m looking for some information like raiders about this game to pass it.

2. Although the game has a lot of new moves, but the speed is slower.

I found ‘Super Mario 64’ can use triple jump in the internet, but I have not succeeded. So I only carefully complete each part. Have a lot of coin I did not eat.

3. The 3d game’s view is a big problem. Because ‘Super Mario 64’ is the first 3d third person game, a lot of perspective is not considered complete. For example, if you jump behind the boss, you cannot see the back view. That time, you want to zoom out your view. I always forgot it, so I did not quickly to control my camera view. I died many times on this issue.

4. The game’s story is so simple. Its lack of innovation, the basic story is the same before.





 Game experience


1. If you want to play this game, I advise you to first become familiar with all of the action.

2. Start playing the game before. You had better look to the Raiders on internet. If you do that, you can avoid getting lost or wasting time.

3. You must have enough patience to run in the scenes that can help you to find more coins. If you eat 100 gold coins, you can get a star in each part. Collection of stars is very important in this game. If you like this kind of game, you do not be afraid of wasting time.



Game’s impact


‘Super Mario 64’ broke the previous single game. It created a new 3d games’ marketing. It not only gives more people a new games’ concept, but also it has driven the development of 3d games. Super Mario game is always a classic game, no matter in what period.
