Street Fighter II
street fighter II is made by Capcom in 1990s, it's one of the most popular game. Because It is widely considered a pioneer in fighting games and it is more emphasis on maneuverability and playability, without relying on images and animations. In this game every characters have their own unique fighting style and special moves, street fighter II have many version, like The World Warrior, Champion Edition, Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II--The New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II-- Turbo etc, I just talk about the first version of street fighter II-- The World Warrior.

2914_MYSTery
Myst designed and created by Cyan Worlds a video game company founded by Rand and Robyn Miller. It been said that Myst puts the Myst in Mysterious Island a book that the Miller brothers quote as being the some of the inspiration behind the game and title “Myst was simply a working title that came from Jules Verne's Mysterious Island”[1] as stated by Rand Miller. But for me my first thought about the game was more like Myst puts the MY in MY GOD WHAT THE HECK AM I MEANT TO BE DOING, from the first scene I was lost and confused what was required of me, no menu bar, no interface, no objective message, just a mouse courser and a screen shot.
After having the search around the island for clues I still didn’t even who I was in the game am I playing myself, am I someone else? If so how and why am I on the island. But no nothing I didn’t receive any help from the game it was clear this game was not meant to be taken lightly and if you weren’t prepared to think and pay attention you weren’t going to progress anywhere in the game. Something that games of the time didn’t really offer players, games were seen for children but this game was intended to challenge even the best puzzle gamers. I decide to go back to the start, but this time move more slowly paying more attention, after all Myst did bring a 3D world to a 2D format by building the Myst island in a 3D world and then taking 2D bitmap snapshots and placing them into the game, when ever the player clicked to move somewhere the game would just cycle through the 2d images to make appear as though the player was moving through this virtual world. “Nintendo would later use this technique to great effect in Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo.” [3].
So I figured these fantastic graphics the game provides must be for a reason, besides just for cosmetic look. It didn’t take long on my journey back to the starting point on the island, I noticed a piece of paper on the ground, I click it and a letter opens up it tells me to go to the dock, go into the secret room and enter a code to see a message. I couldn’t help but kick myself for missing this the first time as it was so close to the start, but here it was my first puzzle to be solved, my first objective, something to aim to complete some sort of direction that I had been craving.
The letter says I need to enter the number of beacon transmitters on the island into the pad to receive the message. I reach the secret room and there’s a big well looking object in the middle but no pad? I find the pad under neath a piece of paper on the wall. I can see this game isn’t going to offer me anything easy. I enter the number into the pad, which was hidden under a piece of paper on the wall and then check out the well, a video appears and it is where I met Atrus the creator of the books and he has hidden his books, suspecting one of his sons wants to destroy them. First clue solved and im now starting to understand what is happening Erik Davis said “The puzzles thereby serve as the perfect metaphor for the unveiling of the hidden mysteries of the land.”[4] I have to agree with this metaphor as it wasn’t until I solved my first puzzle did begin to learn something about the islands story, and I think this is something which compelled many players to play Myst and why is was so successful being the number 1 selling computer game until sims, to find the story you must solve the puzzles, this complex structure something that challenged the players was very refreshing and unique game play of the time. The fact even after 17 years the game is still just as challenging is a compliment to the Miller brothers, many old games become easier after time but for a game to still hold itself even after so long is a true achievement.
Atrus tells me to check out the library and I do, i find a few me hints and clues as to what I need to do next. I decide to check out the log cabin, with a gas furnace and a safe, I turn on the gas but no fire. I open up the safe find matches and light the fire. That leads me to one of the best things about the game are the sound affects that are in it, from wind blowing when you up high, or birds chirping when walking through the trees to the fire crackling in the furnace. Chris Brandekamp a friend of the Miller brothers was the sound engineer on the game and one of the hardest tasks for them was creating these real sounds affects, to make the player feel as though they are in a real place. Often the sounds in real life when recorded would not sound how they were meant to be which meant the Millers and Chris had to find strange ways to record these sounds “the sound of fire in a boiler was created by driving over the gravel in the Miller brothers’ driveway. “ [5] and even the bubbling of water was made by “sticking a large tube into a toilet and blowing into it!”[5]. It was these lengths the Miller brothers and Chris went to create the most authentic and realistic fantasy island/ worlds possible.
I couldn’t help but be amazed at how Myst had combined the graphics with the music and sound affects so well to create this amazing atmosphere within the game and it certainly set a new standard on how good a game could look and feel.

2511_Robert_Canon Game Report_Street Fighter 2 !!
Basic Information
Street Fighter II, also known as SF2, is a very popular game developed by Capcom and published by U.S . Gold in 1992, Capcom is a leading international developer and publisher of video games headquartered in Osaka, Japan, and U.S . Gold was a British video game publisher and developer from the early 1980s through the mid-1990s, producing numerous titles on a variety of 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit platforms. Street Fighter II is a fighting game and it contains violence.
Description
The original Street Fighter II is a famous fighting game. Players select from one of eight characters: Ryu, Ken, Blanka, E. Honda, Zangief, Chun Li, Guile and Dhalsim to do battle with. Each of them has different combat style and skills, and different movement has different keyboard command to control. It is better to use their own strength or specialities to defeat their seven rivals one by one. Finally they need to also defeat the four boss characters: M. Bison, Vega, Sagat and Balrog. In this version we can not select from the boss characters, however in the later versions the boss characters are selectable players, which means we have more choices. Each character represents a certain country and has their own background and stories, and also reasons for wanting to win against the others. For example, Sagat always wants to find Ryu to revenge after Ryu defeated him in the early fightings.
Game Play
The aim of the game is basicly defeat your rival within 99 seconds. If no one is knocked out within 99 seconds then the one has more health point will win. There is a versus scene before the fight and a finish scene after the fight, and the winner is going to say something to mock loser.
After a few rounds you will have some bouns stages, if you do care about your score, these are the good chances to gain more score.
How do we control?
Guard: you can defend against your opponent's attack by moving the level backward. But you can not completely block the opponent's special attacks.
Attack: Each character contains his own selection of basic fighting techniques based on three styles of punches and three styles of kicks. Press the buttons to give some basic attacks, at meantime control your level to let your character jump or move or squat down. For special moves for different characters, here are key board command examples of Ryu and Sagat show how to make those special moves with your controler.
Throw: When you get close to your opponent you can easily throw him/her with the combination of level and button.
What makes Street Fighter II as a very good cannon game?
The very early version of Street Fighter II only has two buttons, one punch and one kick. The graphic and the music is not really good, but why it can become a very remarkable cannon game and it even became more and more popular on its later versions? The most important factors are the cool character designs, new creative fighting system and controling system. All if the later versions of Street Fighter follow these roles and styles even they have something refined such as new characters been added or new special moves or control commands. Furthermore, the later other fighting game like The King of Fighters uses the similar systems as well.
The later versions of Street Fighter II follows several of the conventions and rules already established by its original 1987 predecessor. The player engages opponents in one-on-one close quarter combat in a series of best-two-out-of-three matches. The objective of each round is to deplete the opponent's vitality before the timer runs out.
Street Fighter II improved upon the many concepts introduced in the first game, including the use of command-based special moves and a six-button configuration, while offering players a selection of multiple playable characters, each with their own unique fighting style and special moves. Street Fighter II is credited for starting the fighting game boom during the 1990s. Its success led to the production of a series of updated versions, each offering additional features and characters over previous versions, as well as several home versions.
The "button combination" style of gameplay used to unleash powerful moves specific to each character. These include the ability to project fireballs, channel electricity or capture the opponent in a tight suplex. In later versions or other fighting game all used the button conbination system, because it's very convenient, we don't have to make a lot of buttons for a lot of special moves for each character.
Example: Ryu's fireball.
Street Fighter II differs from its predecessor due to the selection of multiple playable characters, each with their distinct fighting styles and special moves. Unintentionally, a "bug" in the game's code enabled the player to "cancel" during the animation of some moves by performing another move, allowing for a combination of several basic and special moves. The "combo" system all fighting games would subsequently use as standard was, in fact, entirely accidental. Both of these features would be expanded upon in subsequent installments.
Summary
Street Fighter 2 is one of the most cloned fighting games and its effects on gameplay and fighting games specifically can not be understated. Street Fighter 2 is responsible for making popular several different elements.
1953_Cindy_CIV II
At first, I choose Doom to play because my friend told me that it is a shooting game, all you need to do is shooting all the time. But I was thinking at that moment and realized that I am not the person who will like this kind of shooting game, it is not my game. Therefore I changed my canon game play to Civilization II which is a strategy game. Feel happy at that time.
After research about the CIV II, as known as a classic turn-based strategy computer game, was first released in 1996 for the PC and later ported to the Sony PlayStation.
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization_ii) But that still means nothing to me, I installed the game, gave it a try. The result is I died twice. How funny was that! After listening to Adrian’s advise which is read the manual, then I found that I started to understand this classic game.
Here is how I think, player in CIV II, is the leader of a kingdom. The time line starts at 4000 BC, in Old Stone Age, at that time, we don’t know any knowledge. All you can do is to explore the world and establish as many new cities as you can. Just like the king of the country, you have to make all the decisions which will impact on the development of your kingdom, from military to science technology.
LET'S BUILD OUR OWN CIVILIZATION
So the whole game is all about Civilization, there is two way to win this game. One is to conquer every other civilization. For this one, in my opinion, you might take risk of that. If the game level is not high enough, maybe you will beat others luckily. You need to be confident of the military a lot so that you have the ability to kill other civ. Otherwise, you will spend huge amount of money just to keep peaceful between two countries, and the reputation of you civ will be bad. Another victory way is to build a spaceship and also reach Alpha Centauri before any other civilizations.
One thing I need to mention is that people's happiness is very important throughout all your development. If unhappy people exceeds happy people in your city, it will make the city disorder. That will become a trouble. Because whether you make citizens happy or not will impact the score after. You have to make them happy so that you don't need to use extra time to entertain them. You have more important thing to do, to develop the technology and culture as well. The more knowledge you've got, the higher level of civilization you are in, more powerful of course.
Overall, CIV series have definitely changed the way we play game. This overall strategy game gives you a good aspect of the real life as well, just like the history. You can both learn no matter you finally win or lose the game. The whole game's idea is unique from others game. The majority of fans still keep the game in their computer, because you will never meet the same scenario twice. Civilization II is a canon game with its total user customization feature. Every time you play the game, different version which stored in game will come up due to your choice not like other game which is following the script it has. Because of this customization feature, thousands of scenarios dealing with topics as varied as the Roman Empire, Star Trek, Load of the rings, the Crusades, World War II, gangster wars, the Odyssey etc. have been released over the years and in fact continue to be released today.(http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=82058499005) Until I wrote this report, I have played the game three times, I was quite enjoy playing every time and now I know the reason, and thought I have made the right decision at the very beginning.
Thanks,
Cindy

•Civilization II is a turn-based strategy computer game designed by Brian Reynolds, Douglas Caspian-Kaufman and Jeff Briggs. Although it is a sequel to Sid Meier's Civilization, neither Sid Meier nor Bruce Shelley were involved in its development. Civilization II was first released in 1996 for the PC and later ported to the Sony PlayStation.
Civilization is designed by Douglas Caspian-Kaufman and Jeff Briggs which has been published by Micro Prose at 29th February 1996. It is a single player turn-based strategy game and Entertainment Software Rating Board accessed it suitable for everyone playing. Obviously, at that moment, burn a disk is quite easy, so the first platform for this game is computer, later it is ported to Sony PlayStation. The requirement for computer is 33 MHz, 486 CPU, 8 MB RAM and a CD-ROM. The input methods are Mouse and Keyboard. After the single player game had been published, Multiplayer Gold Edition has been released in 2006.
•Civilization2 is a quite hassle with ambition, will academy by 4000B.C.-2100A.D. Development show in front of the player.
•Civilization2 got freedom extremely large, city location, direction of development, the first rich country or be attached to the soldiers, to video production, export or science, by the players.
•1.Eliminate all countries.
•2.To be the first successful climb mainland extraterrestrial alpha centuri.
••To the above goal, simple from the word, is Military force, financial strength and Technology. each production activity is closely linked actually, yu a link insufficient the serious influence production efficiency…However most fundamental factor or population and city.
•1.This game is quiet easy to play, any one can understand the rules.
•2.The game let me think to back to ancient time, and there are some old designs and some old buildings.
•3. This game is a strategy game, it can make you more clever.
•Negative
•1.This game’s picture is not clear. The gameplay is not quiet strong.
•2. Moving the mini-map is very hard, I have to click cross aim on a tiny-map located in the right-up corner of interface.
•3. The option is quite simple. Even I could not group my soldiers.
Gameplay
There are three main tasks during playing game internal affairs, military and diplomacy. Double click to open your city; a lot of data would be showed and you are able to manage your domestic events. For example, to make people happy, the throne would build a temple or invest more money on luxury items. That would please your people and make your nation clam. At this situation, you would continue your domination. If you irritate your folks, they would stop produce anything, it would result of this country backward, and even they would betray you. So a wise lord would respect them.
